Racing games are usually about driving as fast as possible. In Mudrunner and Snowrunner it’s different: the only goal is to advance a few meters – sometimes centimeters – at all.
The developer studio announced at Gamescom 2023 Saber Interactive is now introducing a new part of the series called Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game.
Again it goes into the wilderness, this time among other things in swamp landscapes, deserts, forests and really steep mountains that many of us could not conquer on foot.
Nevertheless, you should somehow bring up a multi-ton SUV to examine ruins or search for treasure.
Of course, this is not possible without equipment. In expeditions, there are several types of reconnaissance drones, with which you can explore the area in advance and look for possible solutions.
When driving through muddy water, an echo sounder helps to avoid shallows. Incidentally, this is a possibility that was last available with Spintires, the actual first game in the series released in 2014.

There are also winches, metal detectors and other items to have a chance in the fight against the elements. The players should be able to set up camps to research further equipment there and to get help from experts in overcoming the next challenges.
According to Saber Interactive, Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game is set to launch sometime in 2024. Targeted platforms are Playstation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, Windows PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch.
