A mayor tried for alcoholic evenings with minors in a home

The mayor of the town of Thizy-les-Bourgs must appear this Monday afternoon before the criminal court of Villefranche-sur-Saône (Rhône) for “direct provocation of minors aged 15 and over 15 to excessive consumption of alcohol” and “complicity in driving a vehicle without a licence”.

He is accused of having organized a drunken evening at his home on December 25, 2021, in which three young people from a home for protected minors participated. And to have, at the end of this evening, let one of them take the wheel of his own car.

The court changes its mind

The matter did not stop there. Two days later, the 34-year-old elected official did it again by going to the hostel this time to participate in a second night of drinking, as revealed by videos taken during the party. Always with the same teenagers.

Placed in police custody in February 2022, the young mayor had apologized during the municipal council. Presented to a judge, during a guilty plea procedure, the elected official had accepted the sentence which was proposed to him, namely four months in prison suspended and an obligation to follow a drug treatment. Not to mention the prohibition to come into contact with the three minors. But the court did an about-face, preferring to finally send the case back to corrections in order to allow the teenagers to testify, according to Progress.
