A maternity hospital closed due to midwifery strike, justice seized

“Do not go spontaneously to the clinic Left Bank but contact 15 ”. Here is the message renewed Monday evening by
the regional health agency to future mothers who have to give birth in the establishment’s maternity ward. This clinic in the center of the Pink City welcomes – with some 3,800 births per year – the largest private maternity hospital in the sector. But since Saturday, due to a very followed strike by midwives who are asking for the upgrading of their status, all childbirth blocks have been closed there.

During the All Saints’ Day, thanks to the mobilization of the Samu regulatory teams, parturients were directed to other establishments in the city. “At the beginning of the week, the evolution of the situation does not allow to have a prospect of complete recovery of the activity within this establishment”, explains the ARS in its press release.

The prosecutor seized for non-response to personnel requisitions

While negotiations continue on the spot with the strikers, the health authorities are raising the tone. The requisitions of personnel requested by the prefect of Haute-Garonne, it seems, have not been followed up.

“The lack of response to these requisitions being constitutive of an offense, we were forced to seize the public prosecutor of Toulouse”, indicates the ARS.
