A man was shot dead on Wednesday evening in the town of Maubourguet, in the Hautes-Pyrénées. According to information provided by the Tarbes prosecutor’s office, he appeared in front of his victim’s apartment, before knocking on his door. As soon as it opened, he allegedly fired a gun into the man’s head.
“It would seem that these two people had a dispute on the basis of jealousy in relation to the partner of the victim. The author would have fired several times in the air while leaving the scene, ”indicates the public prosecutor of Tarbes who opened a flagrant investigation of the murderer last night.
“He would have acted unpredictably”
The main suspect had fled to the village of Bassillon-Vauzé, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, 15 km from the scene of the crime. He stayed there for most of the day. “The police went to check his various drop points. He has just been arrested without incident by the police”, confirms the head of the prosecution to 20 minutes. According to the first elements of the investigation, the alleged murderer “would have acted in an unpredictable manner, without having given any warning sign”.
The question of opening a judicial investigation will only be considered at the end of police custody, which can last up to 48 hours, specifies the head of the Tarbes prosecution.
