a man imprisoned after the murder of a young woman in Lot-et-Garonne

A 41-year-old man, suspected of having stabbed a young woman to death in Marmande in Lot-et-Garonne on the night of February 16 to 17, was imprisoned this Saturday. The suspect was indicted for “murder by a person acting in a state of obvious intoxication” and faces life imprisonment, said the Agen public prosecutor’s office.

Friday, this Moroccan national working as a facade coater in the region had admitted to the investigators “having stabbed” a 31-year-old woman, with whom “he had had episodic relations for a very short time”, explained the public prosecutor Manuella Garnier. The suspect “indicated having acted out of jealousy” when he “understood that the victim was dating another man”.

Already sentenced for acts of violence in 2020

The young woman, mother of three children, received eight stab wounds “of great violence”, in the face, skull and left flank, at her home. Firefighters found her dead a few minutes after the incident in a street in downtown Marmande near her home.

The man, already convicted of acts of violence in 2020, had been arrested on Friday morning at the home of a friend in La Réole in Gironde, about twenty kilometers from Marmande.
