A man discovered in “severe hypothermia” in a landing gear at Orly

A man “in severe hypothermia” was discovered at Paris-Orly airport in the landing gear of a plane arriving from Algeria, we learned this Thursday from consistent sources.

“A young man was discovered near the landing gear upon the arrival of a flight from Oran,” an airport source told AFP on condition of anonymity.

Confirmed by the air transport police

Aged around twenty, he was “alive but in absolute emergency because of severe hypothermia”, and was transferred to hospital after intervention by the air transport gendarmerie (GTA) and emergency services, according to this source.

The GTA confirmed a “seriously injured person” in Orly, without further details immediately.

The individual would still be alive

The discovery took place between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., apparently during “technical checks” of the device, indicated a source close to the case, confirming that the man, who was “transported to a hospital by firefighters”, was “not deceased”.

At the cruising altitude of commercial aircraft, i.e. 12 km, the air temperature can be below -50°C.
