A man charged with murder after the death of the watchman of a hostel for young workers

The drama was tied on the night of November 25 to 26, 2021 within the walls of the home for young workers in Auray (Morbihan). A watchman who was providing security that night had been killed. Upon their arrival, the gendarmes had discovered a 22-year-old young man on the spot suspected of having carried out the fatal blows. The defendant had been placed in police custody before being hospitalized under duress. “The first findings revealed that the body showed signs of significant violence, with numerous wounds, particularly located on the head,” explained the public prosecutor of Lorient. Aged around sixty, the night watchman had died when help arrived.

On Tuesday, the prosecution indicted this 22-year-old man, three and a half months after the tragedy, reports Ouest-France. The respondent had been living in the young workers’ home for more than a year. He had just stopped his training. On the evening of the tragedy, he would have placed garlic and salt around the victim, according to West France. Since the events, he has been hospitalized in a unit for difficult patients where he has been placed on remand.
