In the heart of last summer, a series of fires ravaged several hundred hectares east of Carcassonne, in Aude. Significant resources were deployed by firefighters, whether on land or in the air, to put an end to the flames which burned 7,400 ha of vegetation and destroyed a vehicle in August in Trèbes and Fontiès-d’Aude.
The investigations of gendarmes from the community of Trèbes brigades and the Carcassonne research brigade made it possible to identify a man, who could be at the origin of this series of four voluntary fires.
Placed in police custody, this forties is summoned soon before the judicial court of Carcassonne. He is not unknown to the gendarmerie services. He has indeed already been sentenced for similar acts, according to the Aude gendarmerie. He was also arrested for having set fire to a mixer truck in Villemoustaussou last August.
