A major heroin trafficking network soon to be tried

Four individuals will appear on December 8 and 9 before the Rennes criminal court for a vast heroin trafficking between the Netherlands and France, we learned this Friday from Philippe Astruc, public prosecutor of Rennes. . The case started on July 23, 2020 with the interception of a vehicle traveling in the direction of Caen (Calvados) by the customs services of Honfleur. Inside the vehicle, 54 kg of heroin and more than 600 grams of cocaine had been discovered stashed in various caches, the value of the goods being estimated at more than 1.3 million euros.

Before the investigators, the 25-year-old driver explained that he could not honor a loan for the acquisition of a fishing boat. He then asked a friend to be put in touch with people looking for a driver to deliver narcotics from the Netherlands for a fee.

The suspects arrested in February 2021

After the indictment of the young man, the investigations, carried out by the research section of Rennes, made it possible to confirm “the organized nature of this transport which had been the subject of preparatory meetings, and the acquisition of vehicles and dedicated phones. “The presence of an opener vehicle occupied by the sponsors was also highlighted”, specifies in a press release Philippe Astruc.

The investigation led to the arrest in February 2021 of suspects, sponsors and accomplices in this importation of narcotics. At the end of police custody, four men from Côtes-d’Armor and Maine-et-Loire were indicted. They incur a ten-year prison sentence and heavy criminal and customs fines.
