a major fire threatens the Arbois plateau this Sunday in Rognac

The fire broke out in the hills of Rognac this Sunday, August 6, around 3:45 p.m. Significant resources are deployed by the Bouches-du-Rhône firefighters to contain the flames, fanned by a wind blowing at 80 km / h.

At 5:30 p.m., 20 hectares of vegetation were covered in flames.

Four Canadair in support

One hour after the start of the operation, nearly 220 firefighters are on site, supported by significant land and air resources. Four Canadair, a Dash and two water bomber helicopters are in action above the Arbois plateau.

No homes at risk so far

During a first point shortly before 5 p.m., the firefighters indicated that the flames did not threaten homes. They are currently burning in the hills. Heavy means are fighting on the spot to avoid reliving the huge fire that ravaged this sector in 2016.
