“A lonely, old man” – Ex-Bayern supervisory board speaks about the death of Franz Beckenbauer and makes serious allegations

His long-time companion and ex-Bayern supervisory board member Helmut Markwort has his reason for this: “mental suffering”.

In a video from Focus Markwort also blames the media for the “mental suffering” of the “Emperor”: “The newspapers that hyped him up wrote him down. There are also private cases of fate. The death of his son. Then suddenly the media betrayed him, as he believed. He was lonely at the end and didn’t want to know anything about anyone anymore.”

The 87-year-old from Darmstadt continued: “If you believe in psychosomatics, in the connection between physical suffering and mental pain, then you could assume that this crash and the chase in public also made him sick. He was really sick at the end and that was terrible for him.” In addition, “he also didn’t want to show his dilapidated appearance to the public.”

Markwort explained that Beckenbauer’s death was already expected. “Still, the news is always a shock,” he said.

However, the 87-year-old is sure that the death was a relief for the two-time world champion. Already in the ARD-Documentation “Beckenbauer”, brother Walter Beckenbauer said that his brother was doing poorly.

Markwort said about his state of health: “I know that he could no longer play sheep’s head, he had trouble speaking, he had trouble seeing and he couldn’t and he didn’t want to see his friends anymore.” And: “He was a lonely old one Man.”

The ex-Bayern supervisory board considers the career of the “Kaiser” to be a “sensational rise” that was fueled by curiosity and the ability to learn. The 87-year-old emphasized: “He is a prime example of how you can come from the bottom up through sport, through football.”
