“A little warm-up before May 1”… A reduced procession marched calmly

The inter-union did not expect to fill up due to school holidays. The new mobilization against the pension reform was indeed less this Thursday in Rennes with 1,200 demonstrators according to the prefecture and 5,000 according to the unions. “We can take this event as a little warm-up lap before May 1, where I hope there will be a lot of us. It is by waves that may seem small, that by dint of repetitions, we still send a message, ”said one of the demonstrators, Olivier Le Moigne, a 63-year-old retiree. “May 1 can be a crystallizer of many things. It will start again and on other grounds in the months to come, ”he predicts.

Notable fact, the demonstration this time took place in peace while the Breton capital is regularly the scene of degradations and violent clashes since the beginning of the mobilization. A few tear gas canisters were however fired by the security forces against a group of individuals who had moved away from the official procession.

A CNews journalist taken to task

At the end of the demonstration, a journalist from the CNews channel was also attacked by demonstrators, some of whom tried to steal his camera, announced the prefecture, stressing that “he is fine”.

In Brittany, around sixty trade unionists, in particular from the railway CGT, also blocked a level crossing in Lorient this Thursday morning, causing delays of several hours for four TGVs and five TERs. Traffic gradually resumed around 10 a.m. after the demonstrators left.
