Shortly after its reopening, a hotel in Lacanau, Gironde, had to close its doors again. On July 9, a cluster was identified among the staff of this establishment (three positive cases and 22 risky contact cases) and management decided to close because of the isolation of these employees. “There is no case of contact among customers, barrier gestures having been scrupulously respected within the hotel,” said the regional health agency on Tuesday in a press release.
An evening in a discotheque at the origin of the cluster
At the request of the ARS, the management systematically called back all the people who had already left the hotel to remind them of the instructions to follow (monitoring of their state of health and screening). And positive people were put in solitary confinement for 10 days.
The ARS indicates that the positive cases were contaminated during a night in a discotheque where the sanitary rules were not well respected. “The establishment has been put on notice by the prefecture to comply with the health protocols in force in this type of establishment (list of customers, strict wearing of masks by staff, physical distancing)”, specifies the ARS.
Screening and vaccination
The ARS, in coordination with the prefecture of Gironde and the town hall of Lacanau, launched a screening operation on Monday in a municipal room. Until the end of the week, it is possible to carry out screening tests every day, and without an appointment. As of July 13, 60 screenings have been carried out and six have tested positive.
In parallel, a vaccination operation is set up on Tuesday to strengthen the action carried out by the Lacanau vaccination center, which currently performs 260 injections per day, or 1,300 per week.
