A hiker airlifted after a fall

The Gard firefighters intervened in Valleraugue, a town located about 90 km northwest of Nîmes. They were called for the fall of a hiker on a single-track GR 62.

209 km long, this long-distance footpath connects Roque Rouge, a town in the Gard, to Conques in the Aveyron.

Intervention of the Grimp

Made difficult due to the very steep terrain, this intervention required the engagement of a Civil Security helicopter and a specialized team from the Grimp (Reconnaissance and Intervention Group in Dangerous Environments).

The victim, a 56-year-old man, suffered a shoulder injury. He was airlifted and transported to CHU Lapeyronie, in Montpellier.
