A history teacher at the Georges-Brassens high school in Evry was threatened with death in a letter on October 10, according to police and judicial sources, confirming information from BFM TV. The letter was submitted to the principal and contained threats against this professor of the Jewish faith, indicating that he was going to suffer the same fate as Samuel Paty.
“It’s a classic threatening letter, which alludes to the person’s Jewish religion,” says the judicial source. “There is probably no reason. This is not something usual, ”continues the same source, which specifies that an investigation was opened on Monday.
The teacher’s home under surveillance
The urban security of the Evry police station is in charge of the file. The establishment was placed under police surveillance as well as the professor’s home with regular police patrols.
This incident comes as schools prepare to pay tribute to Samuel Paty, a 47-year-old history and geography teacher, beheaded on October 16, 2020 by a radicalized young man who accused him of having shown caricatures of Muhammad to His students.
It follows another incident in early September, made public in mid-October. A teacher who had mentioned in class “freedom of expression, the caricatures of Muhammad and Charlie Hebdo suffered death threats made in a high school in Haut-Rhin by the uncle of a student.
