A harassment investigation leads to a sordid case of “sexting” between police and magistrates

One case can hide another. Thursday, a 43-year-old Montalban policeman appeared during a trial, disoriented in Toulouse, in particular for forgery in writing and harassment of his ex-companion. The incredible story began in June 2022 when the ex-companion of the defendant, a lawyer from the Montauban bar, saw a customs officer arrive in his garden in the simplest device. The latter explained to her that she had given him an appointment on a dating site for a sexual relationship. The investigation showed that it was the police officer, with libertine morals, who would have “mounted” this sordid date by posing as the lawyer. He would also have abused his position to illegally consult the fadettes of his ex-companion and criminal history. Two years of suspended prison sentence were required against him by the parquet floor as well as a prohibition to practice. The court is due to render its decision on June 22.

Possible disciplinary or even criminal consequences

But the case has another side, just as gloomy, unveiled Wednesday by our colleagues from Parisian. By exploiting the policeman’s computer data, the investigators also discovered that he was the instigator of a WhatsApp loop whose catchphrase, “Du ass à gogo”, leaves little doubt about the substance of the conversations, particularly salty, and on shared photos. Not to mention the racist assertions. And the discomfort is all the greater in the Montalban judicial institution that two magistrates participated in this thread.

Franck Rastoul, the Attorney General of Toulouse, confirmed to the Parisian that incidental proceedings were in progress and that “possible disciplinary measures” were being studied by the Chancellery. Criminal proceedings are not excluded on this second part of the case.
