A group of hackers claims the hacking and massive data theft of the platform

As multiple media reported on Wednesday, Twitch may have suffered a massive data breach in recent hours following a hack. The stolen data would have subsequently been disseminated on the 4chan forum by the group of hackers at the origin of this attack, as reported in particular by the site of
BFMTV.

Among these stolen files would be the source code of Twitch, the revenues from the platform of many streamers around the world, but also potentially the passwords of users. They are also advised to change them as soon as possible. Twitch has not yet communicated on this suspicion of hacking.

An Excel table with the income of streamers

An Excel file listing the accounts of different content creators on the platform is circulating this Wednesday afternoon on social networks. The table shows the income of these streamers over a period from August 2019 to October 2021. Among one of the people mentioned, ZeratoR, a French streamer specializing in video games, has confirmed the veracity of the information about him. He also took the opportunity to explain that it was about turnover and not profits.

As clarified by BFMTV, the authors of this piracy would have indicated on 4chan that this information was only a “first part”, implying that other data could be diffused.
