A former police officer acquitted in the Bac Nord affair in Marseille, candidate for the RN

Its name probably doesn’t mean anything to you. However, Sébastien Soulé is one of the police officers whose story inspired the film Bac Nord, brought to the screen by Cédric Jimenez. In 2012, a scandal shook this unit which operated in the northern districts of Marseille. Several of its members have been accused of being involved in a vast affair of corruption, racketeering and drug trafficking.

But nine years later, seven of the 18 police officers tried for these acts were acquitted. Among them, Sébastien Soulé. The former has since decided to enter politics. He is a candidate for the legislative elections in the first constituency of Var, in Toulon, under the colors of the National Rally.

Committed to trade unionism

“It’s a very big challenge and I hope that I can make things happen in terms of security through this inauguration,” explains to Figaro the one who was departmental secretary of the Alliance Police union in Var.

“Even though it wasn’t at all planned, I knew I wanted to go into politics. But it didn’t take me long to think: Jordan Bardella has the capacity to change things,” he adds. This former brigadier will face the outgoing Renaissance deputy, Yannick Chenevard.
