A first wolf plan triggered after suspicions of attacks

Brittany had not seen its shadow for more than a century. But he is there. Victim of hunters and traps for decades, the wolf has now returned to Brittany. Well, at least one wolf. While the specialists had suspicions, the proof had arrived in May by the video capture of a wolf in the sector of Berrien, in the Monts d’Arrée. An individual with a gray and brown coat passed well in Finistère. And according to the testimonies of breeders in the sector, the wolf was not just passing through for the holidays. At least one, or even two specimens, would have settled in the department.

According to The Telegram, a wolf plan would be in preparation in the services of the State. A meeting should be scheduled in December to bring together all the parties concerned. According to the daily, a dozen sheep attacks were recorded in October in the Monts d’Arrée sector. Farmers should be compensated. This wolf plan does not aim to hunt the animal but “to learn to live with it”, said a state agent to the Telegram. The last wild wolf reported alive was killed in 1913 in Tréméven in the Côtes-d’Armor.

Recently, a resident of Ille-et-Vilaine also reported having crossed paths with an animal resembling a wolf, such as bring it back West France. The photos are too blurry to confirm it but the doubts are legitimate.
