  • The Hollywood Foreign Journalist Awards (formerly the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, HFPA) takes place Sunday, January 7 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California at 5 p.m. local time ( Monday January 8 at 2 a.m. in Paris, on the Canal + channel).
  • After scandals and a broadcast interruption, this is the second year that the ceremony has tried to relaunch, on a new channel and a streaming service in the United States (CBS, Paramount +), and with two new categories: best film with box office success, best stand-up show broadcast on television.
  • On the cinema side, the film barbie by American Greta Gerwig is nominated nine times, notably in the comedy, directing and song categories. Oppenheimer, by Christopher Nolan, has eight nominations, notably in the dramatic film and directing categories. They are followed by Killers of the Flower Moonby Martin Scorsese, and Poor Creaturesby Yorgos Lanthimos, with seven nominations each.
  • The Palme d’Or at the last Cannes Film Festival, Anatomy of a fallby Justine Triet, is nominated in four categories: dramatic film, actress (Sandra Hüller), screenplay and foreign film.
  • On the series side, the rivals of Succession, whose final season is in the running, will have a lot to do. With nine nominations, the saga is well ahead The Bear Or Only Murders in the Building (5). Also note the presence of The Crown, The Last of Us or The Diplomat.
