A fawn, three squirrels, the first wild animals victims of the fires collected and cared for

They fled the advance of the flames in Gironde. The care center of the Aquitaine Bird Protection League indicates in a Facebook post having collected the first wild animals on Tuesday “victims of the consequences of the fires”. These are three young red squirrels and a deer fawn reported by residents of the affected municipalities. The specialists specify that these survivors do not suffer from burns, but they found themselves “quickly disoriented, dehydrated and weakened (…)”, and present irritations of the respiratory tracts as well as a “degraded general state”.

The Audenge care center (reachable by SMS at 06.28.01.39.48) expects – “unfortunately” – to collect other wild animals.

There are also other care sites in Mont-de-Marsan (Landes) and Tonneins (Lot-et-Garonne) in the event of the discovery of an animal in distress. But be careful, do not undertake a rescue endangering yourself or hampering the operations of the firefighters until the fires are under control.
