A doctoral student sentenced after the ransacking of the administrative court

The scene, which occurred on the sidelines of a day of mobilization against pension reform, was shocking. On March 23, while a major demonstration brought together tens of thousands of people in Nantes, the administrative court located in the city center was ransacked by a group of masked individuals.

On Thursday, a 31-year-old doctoral student in history was sentenced by the court for having participated in these damages, reports the newspaper West France. His DNA was identified on a piece of concrete thrown inside the building, which had to remain closed for several days following this incident.

Suspended prison

The defendant, who denied any involvement while ensuring that he was not at the scene, was sentenced to six months in prison and banned from demonstrating in Nantes for two years, the newspaper said. He will have to compensate the State to the amount of 25,000 euros in particular to reimburse the work, cleaning, and replacement of a door.
