Opponents of the Covid-19 vaccination are smiling in Rennes. The Skyrock radio Vaxibus tour, intended to encourage young people to be vaccinated as part of the fight against the coronavirus, was cut short in the Breton capital after a first day disrupted by demonstrators, announced the regional agency de santé (ARS) Monday evening.
“The operation of tomorrow (Tuesday) is canceled,” announced a spokesperson for the ARS, without further clarification. Touring throughout France, the Vaxibus was to stop Monday and Tuesday in Rennes city center, from noon to 8 p.m. But from 7 p.m. Monday, the Vaxibus teams were putting their equipment away under the watchful eye of a few dozen anti-health pass protesters.
About fifty demonstrators
“We are not against vaccination,” assured Franck, 50, one of the demonstrators. “We are here to denounce the side effects that no one is saying”. The protester, who says “fight to remain free”, welcomed the cancellation of the operation on Tuesday. “If we can have saved a few children,” he smiled.
About fifty people were present at the height of the demonstration. Some protesters booed people entering the mobile vaccination center, according to the regional daily West France, which specifies that only a dozen elderly people were vaccinated between noon and 6 p.m.
