Installed without authorization on the night of Thursday to Friday, the small resin statue represents the far-right presidential candidate. “I wanted to show him like the characters in music boxes that pop up when you open it,” explains artist James Colomina, “he plays a little music that goes into your head and that you can’t get rid of. “
“A timeless, multicultural place and symbol of France”
The artist, who is not at his first attempt since he had already posed one of his works representing a migrant under a blanket in 2019 in front of the museum, says that he uses the news to express his art: “I made this character because he is everywhere at the moment, we have the impression that there is only him, like this statue which never takes its eyes off you. “
But why did you choose the Louvre again to exhibit the statue? “It is a timeless, multicultural place and symbol of France”, specifies the artist who crosses his fingers so that the statue is not removed too quickly.
