No case had yet been detected in the territory. This Tuesday, the regional health agency indicates that the presence of Delta variant (the other name of the Indian variant) has been identified in the Loire-Atlantique department. After sequencing, a case was confirmed in Blain last Friday.

Since then, “16 people related to this patient have developed the Covid and additional analyzes are underway to find out whether it is also the Delta variant”, indicate the authorities. Two potential chains of contamination are studied: one within the establishment receiving the positive person, namely the Loire-Atlantique Nord psychiatric establishment located in Blain, the other within the contacts of a external speaker, come to provide entertainment in the establishment.

Screening operation, Thursday

Thursday, a screening operation will be organized in the town, from 9.45 a.m. to 6 p.m. At the same time, positive patients or contact cases are called upon to isolate themselves. This variant, first identified in April in India and now dominant in the UK, could be much more contagious than the alpha variant (previously called British).

Several dozen cases have recently been declared in the Landes.
