a cache filled with ammunition and food discovered near Nantes

It’s a great find made by a treasure seeker using a metal detector on Monday afternoon in the woods of Seilleraye, in Carquefou, near Nantes. A buried cache housing numerous ammunition and food was indeed brought to light.

The prospector did not touch anything and immediately informed the gendarmes. These arrived in the presence of deminers “in the event that grenades or explosives would also be stored or installed to trap the cache”, they report.

Eventually, a total of more than 2,500 pieces of ammunition, neatly stored, were exhumed, along with materials for making cartridges. The Loire-Atlantique gendarmerie also found more than 30 kg of foodstuffs (rice, pasta, sausages, lentils, etc.), hygiene products (diapers, toothpaste, etc.), clothes… The shelter was not dated yesterday since “cans expired since 2015” were in stock.
