a bronze statue stolen from a war memorial in Moselle

It’s not the kind of theft that goes unnoticed. A bronze statue of 500 kg for 1.50 meters high and 1.20 meters wide was stolen last week in Noisseville, Moselle. The work, which represents Lorraine and pays homage to the fighters of the War of 1870, was removed from its pedestal, presumably at night, according to
France Bleu Lorraine North.

The president of the Souvenir Français, Serge Barcellini, denounced a “memorial scandal”. “It is an extraordinary monument and excessively imposing: it carries a memory of Lorraine and France, it is not a banal monument”, he added to the local radio. The association filed a complaint.
