Although McCormack’s comments caused “serious harm” to Wright’s reputation, a judge awarded Wright a modest damage of 1 British pound ($1.23).

The pair’s legal battle broke out in 2019 in which McCormack said Wright was “not Satoshi” and called him a liar and a scammer, which Wright claims the comments cost him financial damage. After he was not invited to speak at events and meetings.

In a statement released by Wright’s lawyers, “We intend to appeal the outcome of the hearing. Our evidence was clearly misunderstood.”
