a balcony collapses in Rouen during an illegal party, two seriously injured

An investigation for “endangering the lives of others” was launched after the collapse of a balcony left four people injured during a party in Rouen (Seine-Maritime) this Sunday morning around 1:30 . The investigations concern the organizers of the birthday party, indicates Paris Normandy. About twenty people were gathered there despite the health measures put in place to fight against Covid-19.

Six meters high

The accident required the intervention of the local mobile emergency and resuscitation service (Smur) and 17 firefighters. It took place in a town house, located rue d’Elbeuf. The first elements collected by the investigators seem to show that the house had been rented for the evening from Saturday to Sunday in order to organize the celebration. All the participants in the party were fined by the police dispatched on the spot.

Two of the individuals who were on the first floor balcony when it gave way were seriously injured. All the victims were taken to the University Hospital Center (CHU) in the Normandy city. The four people supported fell from six meters high after a railing collapsed during the party.
