A baby African penguin is born at Planet Ocean

A baby African penguin was born at the beginning of May in the colony of Planet Ocean, in Montpellier (Hérault), indicated the leisure complex a few days ago. After spending thirty-nine days in its egg, the little animal pointed the tip of its beak, and met its parents, Calypso and Ocean. Visitors to Planet Ocean have been able to admire its fluffy silver plumage for the past few days.

“We don’t know yet if the baby penguin is a male or a female,” says the Planet Ocean team, on the complex’s Facebook page. We will find out this fall, after an initial health examination and DNA analysis. With this newcomer to the colony, there are now nearly 20 penguins at Odysseum.

Visitors are invited to give a name to this little ball of feathers. To participate in the vote, you have to come say hello to the penguin colony at Planet Ocean.
