A 99 – Oil and Wine in Flames – District of Munich

A truck trailer loaded with wine and oil went up in flames on Tuesday night on the A 99 motorway ring. According to the police, a 45-year-old truck driver from the Miesbach district was driving towards Nuremberg when he noticed the fire at around 3:10 a.m.

With a presence of mind, he stopped on the hard shoulder just outside the Aschheim junction, disconnected the trailer, and got himself to safety. A little later, the trailer of the Baden-Wuerttemberg forwarding company was in full fire.

The fire brigades from Vaterstetten, Haar, Grasbrunn and Aschheim put out the fire, and the THW also moved in. The motorway had to be completely closed for about 45 minutes. The road could then be gradually released again. According to estimates by the police, the fire caused damage of 55,000 euros. The officials suspect a technical defect as the cause.
