A 49-euro ticket does not create a turnaround in traffic – opinion

The idea of a cheap, one-way bus and train ticket is nice, but it misses the mark. There is a lack of service and staff, the infrastructure is ailing – and it could get even worse. What would be needed now.

For 49 euros a month, you can travel across the country by train and bus, at any time of the day, until late at night. That would be a super ticket for environmental and above all climate protection and against even more traffic jams on the roads. Especially in the big cities. The planned successor to the summer nine-euro ticket should of course also apply there. Subways and tram lines, all included. And no more tedious searches in confusing fare systems to find out which ticket is exactly the right one.
