A fishmonger at the Victor Hugo market in Toulouse heard cries of pain as he opened his stall this Saturday at 5 a.m. He noticed that a young man had fallen into the ice machine filled with hot water which is used to melt ice from fishmongers’ stalls. The scaler called for help but the victim, aged 20, died quickly.

“He was at a party but not in the same area [que le marché Victor Hugo] , reports commissioner Jean-Noël Brua. And, we know that there was a fight in which he may have participated or at least been close to it, but he entered the market alone.” At this stage the investigation continues and all avenues remain open but that of the accident appears privileged.
The investigation will continue with the hearing of witnesses and the use of the video surveillance available on the route that the victim took before his death.
