A 19th century chapel transformed into a “star bar”

Until then, it was distinguished by its mixture of architectural genres. From this Tuesday, the Chantrerie chapel, built between 1834 and 1844 and restored in 2017, adds another string to its bow of originality. The building classified as a historic monument, which dominates the Chantrerie park in Nantes, becomes the “Erdre star bar”. A strange reconversion decided as part of the second season of the “places to reinvent” approach, where the project obtained the most votes.

Inaugurated this Tuesday evening, the place “will allow you to contemplate the sunset and discover the Chantrerie site in a unique way, at night,” promises the city of Nantes. Observation of stars and wildlife, but also storytelling walks, concerts or artistic practices will take place there, in the heart of this 37-hectare estate already well known for its educational farm. At the origin of the project, the collective of local residents hopes that the site will become a real place to live.
