On the morning of this Monday, January 16, not far from the Guillaume-Apollinaire high school in Thiais (Val-de-Marne), a young person attacked two other minors with a knife. One of the two victims died on the spot, after being injured in the chest and three minors were taken into custody.
The track of a new brawl between privileged young people. The facts occurred this Monday morning shortly after 8 a.m., when a minor – part of a group of 5 to 10 people – allegedly attacked with a knife two other young people in Thiais, in the Val de Marne (94), not far from the Guillaume-Apollinaire high school, we learned from a police source.
Hit in the chest during this attack, one of the two victims died of his injuries. Wounded in the thigh, the other victim, also a minor, was transported to the Henri-Mondor hospital in Créteil. His vital prognosis is not engaged, according to the prosecution, which specifies that these two people were not known to the police.
The suspect taken into custody
Aged 16, the alleged perpetrator was recognized by one of the victims. He was subsequently arrested by the judicial police around the Léon-Blum high school, in Créteil, where he is educated, before being placed in police custody.
The suspect is already known to the police for acts of “aggravated violence” and “participation in an armed crowd” committed in May 2021, “when he was 15 years old”, specifies the Paris prosecutor’s office, which evokes stabbings as well as degradations of public property.
Already arrested for these facts, he was placed until now under judicial supervision with a ban on going to Orly (94) on the one hand and to Thiais (94) on the other hand “except for the needs of his schooling” .
Two other minors, aged 15 and 16, were also arrested and taken into custody. One is not known to the police, as for the second, he was the subject of a reminder to the law last November for illicit use of narcotics, learned CNEWS from a judicial source.
A rivalry between neighborhoods
The scenario of a brawl between gangs of rival youths is favored at this stage, said several sources close to the investigation. Originally from Choisy-le-Roi, the suspect mentioned a rivalry between districts of Thiais and Choisy-le-Roi, two neighboring towns.
According to a police source at AFP, the rivalries between Choisy and Thiais “are historic and topical”. There would have been “a meeting” between groups from the two cities on December 20, then, more recently, on the night of Friday to Saturday.
Fifteen people, but not the suspect of the attack on Monday, were indeed arrested over the weekend by the Territorial Security of Val-de-Marne, including eleven minors, at the Thiais Village shopping center. These young people were arrested during an armed crowd, which did not cause any injuries.
“Investigations will continue in order to identify and arrest the other defendants and to establish the reasons and the exact circumstances of this criminal attack”, communicated the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which already announces that “the nature of the facts will lead to the opening of a judicial investigation at the end of police custody”.
On the spot, many objects “likely to constitute weapons” were discovered, finally specified the Public Prosecutor’s Office, leaving no doubt about the intentions of the protagonists. Among the arsenal, two soft drinks, a broken golf club, a piece of wood but also a knife, “without it being established at this time” that it is indeed the murder weapon”.
