Sun, hot weather (a little stifling, no?), Summer is almost here this Thursday in Strasbourg. What would you want from a little mapping on the cathedral or a little trip to the ephemeral beach of the Malraux peninsula? We will have to wait another month, until July 3, the opening date of the usual festivities in the Alsatian capital. Whose town hall has just unveiled the program.
First news to remember, there will be a sound and light on one of the facades of the cathedral. The one next to the castle square. The show will last thirteen minutes and the public will be invited to stroll through a meadow. “Like an insect in the middle of the vegetation”, writes the organizer, also evoking a “dialogue with the source of water that is the fountain”.
No large gatherings
Small useful clarification: wearing a mask will be compulsory for all events and “no meeting generating large gatherings of people in public space” has been planned. Entrances should therefore be limited, as in the Ill-Bruche Urban Nature Park. The establishment of an edible garden, plastic installations, land art are announced. And at night, the Schloessel tower will be dressed in portraits of Strasbourg residents taken… in a box installed on the Place du Château. Here again, strolls will be possible at night, in the middle of “fireflies and light garlands”, says the town hall.
Another usual gathering place in the Strasbourg summer, the Malraux peninsula has not been forgotten. The traditional beach will be… a little green this year. “The sandy area is completed by vegetation and a discovery area. This makes it possible to bring freshness and shade, ”explains the organizer, who wanted summer activities to be spread over all districts of the city and no longer only in the city center. Outdoor cinema screenings, sports activities, concerts, circuses, dances, music… There will be something for everyone this summer in Strasbourg.
