What’s the matter: In order to maintain the well-being of the family, young English nobility have to go among businessmen, that is, among gangsters, and manage a huge cannabis plantation under the castle grounds. Guy Ritchie’s first series, which only has the title (and the noble cannabis) in common with his film of the same name. And, of course, the (bloody) callousness.
Secret star: Ray Winstone as a gang boss who really has everything under control and makes his opponents look miserable, even if he is currently incarcerated in a luxury prison with exquisite dinner and fine wines.
Not suitable for: Fans who prefer to see Ray Winstone brutal and vulgar like in “Sexy Beast”, 2000, by Jonathan Glazer, the “Zone of Interest” director. Fritz Goettler
Eight episodes, on Netflix.
One Day
What’s the matter: about growing up and the improbability of working love. Using the example of the initially young, complicated students Dexter Mayhew and Emma Morley. And for one day a year when history will follow them for almost 20 years. Everything is perfect here, from the equipment to the dialogue.
Secret star: Not secretly, because they are the protagonists. But you will still be hearing about Leo Woodall and Ambika Mod after this series.
Not suitable for: the victims of the movie “Two in a Day” from 2011. Although – it will be sad again, but much better! Aurelie by Blazekovic
Fourteen episodes, on Netflix.
Push
What’s the matter: about the everyday life of two midwives and a midwife student, and therefore: lots of births. You can see them here more realistically than ever – and that’s why Push something like a small miracle. It’s about the pressure midwives work under and how important trust is when it comes to birth. And about a central part of the female experience that is rarely told.
Secret star: the placenta, which makes its biggest appearance to date on German television right at the end of the first episode.
Not suitable for: sensitive minds with incomplete family planning. Elisa Britzelmeier
Six episodes in which ZDF Mediathek.
After the assassination attempt
What’s the matter: The assassination of American President Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865, a few days after the end of the Civil War between the Northern and Southern states, and the hunt for the murderer John Wilkes Booth – a hapless actor who was looking for the role of a lifetime.
Secret star: Hamish Linklater and Tobias Menzies as Lincoln and his Secretary of War Edwin Stanton show a beautiful male friendship in which a lot is involved, emotionally and politically calculated.
Not suitable for: History lovers who believe that in historical conflicts one of two sides must be the right one.
Rocko Schamoni show
What’s the matter: In well-tempered one-on-one conversations about life and art, Schamoni approaches his guests at places that are significant to them. In the first four episodes he meets Klaas Heufer-Umlauf in Berlin, Joy Denalane in Stuttgart, Linda Zervakis in Hamburg-Harburg and Charly Hübner in Neustrelitz. The seriousness of these conversations is framed by a lot of nonsense in sketch form.
Secret star: Gereon Klug, tour manager playing himself and completely exaggerating. A guy in the category: if it’s shit, then with momentum.
Not suitable for: Tired of entertainment who have long since worn out from podcasts and shows with always similar celebrity guests. Cornelius Pollmer
Four episodes in which ARD media library.
