For more than 50 years, the outpatient care service of the Evangelical Social Service (ESD) of Diakonie Fürstenried, founded in 1965, has enabled people in need of care to live a largely independent life in their homes. The nursing service, which operates primarily in the southwestern districts of Fürstenried, Forstenried, Kreuzhof, Maxhof, parts of Solln and Neuried, urgently needed a replacement vehicle for its operations, which Sandra Geisler, managing director of SZ Gute Werke, has now handed over could. ESD board member Roland Schmidt thanked the SZ readers for their great support.
The nursing service provides care for the Andreaskirche community area. “From its beginnings with a handful of community nurses, it has now become a heavily used outpatient care service,” explained Schmidt. The service looks after and advises around 150 sick, elderly and disabled people. Around 35 nursing staff are on duty, some in cars and some on bicycles. Up to 15 patients can be cared for per tour, and the spectrum of services ranges from basic care to treatment care and home care.
Due to the increased energy costs, the higher gasoline prices and the increased costs for hygiene and protective measures as part of the corona pandemic, the ESD has already had to cope with high expenses. Since the fleet was also getting old and five vehicles had to be replaced within two years, Schmidt thanked him very much “on behalf of everyone supported by the ESD for their great support”: “It is a great relief for us, as everything is still running Costs are quite high.
The donation is for the ESD “but also praise and recognition of our diverse activities in the increasingly complex care sector,” emphasized Schmidt: “We are very happy about that.”
