One of the victims, an eighteen-year-old boy, did not survive his injuries. His death was announced during the day on Saturday. He was one of nine people in a car which rolled over several times on Saturday morning around 5:30 a.m. on the A64 motorway near Sorde-l’Abbaye (Landes), according to the Pyrénées-Atlantiques gendarmerie.
Among the nine young people aged 17 to 21 who were in the vehicle, a Peugeot 207, six were injured, two of whom were evacuated in an absolute emergency, before one of them died.
According to South West, the vehicle would have overtaken a heavy goods vehicle before rolling over and stopping on the emergency lane. The young people were returning from an evening in Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques).
