Loire-Atlantique, the most affected department

Motorists should be patient in the long queues that sometimes form at the pump. More than half of Loire-Atlantique service stations are affected by shortages of at least one fuel, compared to around one in six across France, according to public data analyzed on Thursday.

Against the backdrop of strikes in refineries and on the ninth day of mobilization against the pension reform, 15.14% of service stations in France were, at 9 a.m., short of at least one of the fuels (petrol and/or diesel ), based on an analysis of data from the government fuel price website. About 7.65% of the stations are dry.

It’s complicated in the West

The most affected department therefore becomes Loire-Atlantique with 53.37% of stations short of at least one fuel. Other departments in the west are also very affected (Morbihan, Ille-et-Vilaine, Mayenne, Maine-et-Loire all above 40% of stations in short supply), and the south also remains very affected ( Bouches-du-Rhône, Aude above 40%, many other departments above 30%).

France has 200 oil depots and oil companies have anticipated to avoid the giant shortage of last October, caused by a dispute over wages at TotalEnergies and Esso. In Loire-Atlantique, the Donges refinery has ceased its fuel shipments for many days.
