Easier issuing of visas for earthquake victims: an act of humanity. – Opinion

The federal government wants to let the relatives of earthquake victims into the country more easily. That’s right. The country can and must endure the abuse that this could invite.

In view of the unbelievable horror that is unfolding around the earthquake catastrophe in Turkey and Syria, the German government has done the least: It is making it easier for earthquake victims to issue visas. It is not only a service to the victims, but also to the Turks and Syrians in Germany. People who care about family and hospitality can hardly be expected to see relatives freezing and dying in the earthquake area. Alleviating the horror on the ground is hard enough. Germany could not possibly have allowed its own doors in this situation.
