Benedict Cumberbatch is very busy right now. Because of the lockdown traffic jam, four new films have started with him in the past six months: In November, Jane Campion’s Oscar-winning western drama “The Power of the Dog” and then just in time before Christmas a new part of the “Spider-Man” series. In April followed a biopic about the eccentric English cartoonist Louis Wain, who became famous around 1880 with his cat pictures. And now he travels through a multiverse of alternate realities as Doctor Strange in his sixth Marvel blockbuster. Very different films held together by the British actor’s captivating performance. During the conversation in Berlin, Cumberbatch is lively and eloquent despite his busy schedule, which is certainly not only due to the cola he drinks from a teacup.
