Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II has tested positive for the corona virus. According to Buckingham Palace, the 95-year-old has mild symptoms – and wants to continue performing her duties.
Queen Elizabeth II has been infected with the corona virus. The 95-year-old British Queen is feeling “mild, cold-like symptoms” but wants to continue doing “light tasks” in Windsor next week, Buckingham Palace said.
She will receive medical care and will follow all recommendations, it said. Her 73-year-old son Prince Charles and his wife Camilla recently tested positive for the virus. Although the Queen had met Charles two days before his positive test result, it was initially not believed that she could have contracted him because she continued to attend appointments and showed no symptoms in the following days.
Always worried about the Queen’s health
Just two weeks ago, the monarch celebrated the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne in a small circle. At her country estate in East England, Sandringham, she received a number of guests and appeared cheerful and in good spirits. She cut an anniversary cake and joked with attendees and photographers.
At the beginning of the month, Queen Elizabeth was still fit and alert.

Recently, however, there have been concerns about the queen’s health due to her old age. At the end of last year, the Queen spent a night in hospital on medical advice, underwent several examinations and took a rest.
During the pandemic, the Queen had largely shielded herself at Windsor Castle for a long time. The strictest rules regarding tests, isolation and protective measures applied to their closest staff, especially during the corona lockdown.
It is believed that the Queen has been vaccinated against Corona at least three times. In England, according to reports, the very last corona measures are to be lifted by the end of the month.
