The biggest lottery jackpot to date has been hit in Italy. Nobody had picked the correct six numbers in the SuperEnalotto for a year and a half. A particularly large number of winners live in the Naples region.

The record jackpot of €371 million goes to a record number of winners. A total of 90 lottery players in Italy share the jackpot, each receiving four million euros per capita. She couldn’t think of a better way to pay out the jackpot, says SuperEnalotto Director Rosangela Robbiani.

The record profit is distributed throughout Italy and thus benefits many people and many families. Winnings in the SuperEnalotto in Italy are so rare because six correct numbers out of a total of 90 have to be ticked – and not just six out of 49 as in Germany.

The Naples region was particularly lucky

In the list published today by the lottery company in Italy, the acceptance points where the winning tickets were handed in are published – most of the new lottery jackpot kings or queens are therefore in the region around Naples, which is traditionally considered very superstitious and happy to gamble.

All 90 winners were successful because they were part of a system bet offered by the lottery company, which players can buy into independently of one another. Each note, on which four million euros are now paid out, cost five euros.

The acceptance point in Atripalda near Naples, where six of the correct bills were handed in, has been besieged by several television crews since the morning. But the operator of the acceptance point says: He has no idea which of his customers are the six lucky million winners.
