Of the 704,000 candidates for the new baccalaureate, 90.5% of them passed the exam before catching up, announced the Ministry of National Education on Tuesday, specifying that it was slightly lower than that of 2020 (-1.6 point).
Many candidates were able to anticipate their results: the continuous assessment represents at least 82% of the final grade in the general and technological baccalaureate during this session because table tests were canceled due to the health crisis.
“You can be proud of the work”
In detail, 95.2% of candidates for the general baccalaureate are admitted straight away (+0.4 point compared to 2020), as are 89% of those for the technological baccalaureate (-1.2 point) and 82% of those in the vocational baccalaureate (-5.9 points). Remedial sessions will take place on Wednesday and Thursday for students who have obtained a mark below 10/20 but at least equal to 8/20.
In a video posted on Twitter, the Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer sent his congratulations to the new graduates. “The conditions for revisions were sometimes special but you can be proud of the work you have accomplished since it has now borne fruit,” he said. He also expressed his “encouragement” to the students who will pass the catch-up: “Have confidence in yourself, stay focused, with work will come success”.
The continuous assessment notes taken into account
This first edition of the “bac Blanquer”, resulting from the 2018 reform, was largely upset by the health crisis. Only two tests were maintained: the written philosophy and the grand oral.
The high school students have also benefited from adjustments to take into account the disruptions in teaching this year. In philosophy, in particular, the best mark was retained, between that obtained in the test and that of the continuous assessment.
