81-year-old man sentenced to 20 years in prison for murdering his wife

Paolo Cucchiara, who killed his wife on August 12, 2019 in Port-Vendres, a town located about thirty kilometers south of Perpignan, was sentenced to twenty years of criminal imprisonment by the Assize Court of Pyrénées-Orientales.

The victim had started divorce proceedings after 45 years of marriage. She was about to return to England, her country of origin, to rebuild her life there with a love of youth. A situation that her husband would not have supported who killed her with seven stab wounds. A knife he had taken to find the one who hadn’t shared the marital home for some time.

Throughout the trial, the accused denied the premeditation or even the will to kill his wife. The jurors did not believe him and validated the thesis of the assassination. In less than two hours, they followed all the requisitions of the general counsel, Elodie Torres.
