To revamp it, we will therefore avoid false good ideas, by using a product that is not specifically intended for this medium.
The worktop also plays an important aesthetic role in the kitchen. It must therefore harmonize with the furniture, as well as the floor covering and the credenza. How to revamp the work plan?
The most appropriate solution for revamping your worktop depends on various factors: the material it is made of and its condition, of course, but also your decorative desires.
Sometimes, all it takes is a bit for the worktop to radically change its look! Thus, a wooden worktop can take on a whole new look, as long as you embark on a small renovation operation. And to tell the truth, it is not very complicated: it is enough to proceed to a sanding in rule. Count at least 3 passes in order to strip it, to eliminate any traces of shocks and to proceed with the finishes. Then apply a varnish – choosing a product specifically intended for this purpose.
The waxed concrete worktop, you dream of it? Know that it is much easier to adopt than you think. There are indeed kits for revamping a wooden or laminate worktop into an authentic waxed concrete model. They generally consist of 3 easy-to-apply products: a universal primer, the waxed concrete itself and a finishing varnish.
When it comes to makeovers, painting remains unavoidable. Unsurprisingly, it also works on the countertop – provided, of course, you choose it wisely. You must of course choose a product specifically intended for this particular element, which is, remember, in direct contact with food: no question, therefore, of using a potentially toxic paint! It is also a question of choosing a product adapted to the support: tiles, wood, melamine, etc. Depending on your support, you can therefore use resin, or paint and a protective resin.
Your tiled countertop might just be easier to revamp than you think. Indeed, if it is made up of plain tiles, you can adopt a trend that never ceases to seduce: colored joints.
If your current worktop definitely doesn’t suit you anymore, you can cover it with a melamine panel or a glass plate, for a more contemporary design. Be careful, however: this option will require adjusting the sink and the hob. If you opt for melamine, it is also recommended to install an edge strip to obtain a more aesthetic result.
A little shunned, tiling is making a comeback on the kitchen worktop. How about adopting it to revamp yours? If traditional format tiles are a timeless choice, you can also fall for mosaic – another type of interior tiling that is currently making a comeback.
The express solution to revamp the worktop

The self-adhesive worktop covering is extremely easy to install, since it is enough to stick it. This very popular solution in the context of kitchen homestaging is not necessarily sustainable. However, it turns out to be perfectly suited to the kitchenette of a student room or the kitchen of a first studio. You can find some pretty sturdy models – provided you avoid the top prices. The little extra of adhesive paper? It also allows you to revamp a section of the wall or the island: enough to breathe new life into the whole kitchen! This is an opportunity to try your hand at terrazzo or marble, which are always so trendy!
