Germany’s largest student city was inaugurated 60 years ago. Some buildings are now so dilapidated that their residents have had to move out. Former students tell what memories they associate with the “StuSta”.
The bouquets of balloons in subtle colors and the oldies by Bob Dylan and Elvis from the speakers quickly make you think that someone is celebrating their 60th birthday here. But the area around the hall in the Freimann student town, which looks deserted even on a rainy day, forms a dreary setting for the anniversary celebration of the student residence.
