40 GB all-network flat rate from Freenet – tariff bargain?

An offer for frequent surfers: Freenet has a new best price for the Green LTE tariff with 40 gigabytes of data volume per month. For a short time, the provider is offering the all-net flat rate for 11.99 euros per month. This tariff normally costs 46.99 euros per month, so there is a saving of 74 percent. Is the offer worth it?

The Vodafone deal under the microscope

Freenet is starting March with a new tariff offer that is definitely impressive at first glance. In order to attract new customers, Freenet is granting 40 gigabytes (GB) of data volume with the Green Allnet Flat in Vodafone’s LTE network (D2). The monthly discount is 35 euros – sounds like a good deal. 100 megabits per second (Mbit/s) are included – a stable performance that makes this tariff particularly attractive. An SMS and telephone flat rate is also included, and EU roaming is also included in the basic monthly fee. The tariff is therefore not only worthwhile for frequent surfers, but also for everyone who makes a lot of phone calls. However, the contract term is 24 months, so customers have to forego flexibility.

Details:

  • 40 GB LTE data volume (100 Mbit/s) in the Vodafone network
  • Costs: 11.99 euros per month (instead of the previous 46.99 euros per month)
  • Connection price: 19.99 euros
  • 24-month term
  • Flat for telephony & SMS
  • EU roaming flat rate included
  • VoLTE & WiFi call capable
  • eSIM possible
  • Flexible contract start until March 31, 2024

Mobile phone tariff with 40 gigabytes of data volume – are there hidden costs?

Anyone considering a tariff change should be aware that the contractual commitment for this deal is two years. The tariff must therefore be canceled in due time. If you forget to cancel, the contract term is automatically extended. From then on, the regular tariff price is due, which is currently 46.99 euros. There is also a connection fee of around 20 euros when the contract is concluded. Apart from these points, this deal offers more than fair value for money and saves a lot of money.

Alternative: High-speed Allnet flat tariff from Smartmobil

Smartmobil’s current offering is also worth a look. For 36 gigabytes of data volume in the all-net flat tariff, a basic fee of 14.99 euros is currently due; the tariff normally costs 23.99 euros per month. Accordingly, there is a savings potential of around 37 percent here too. This is a little less than the Freenet offer, but there is no connection fee. You can also choose to cancel the contract on a monthly basis. In this case, the provision price increases to a one-off amount of 29.99 euros. Flat rates for internet, telephony and SMS are also included, and the tariff is also 5G compatible. However, the data volume with this tariff is only half the speed of up to 50 MBit/s, so the Vodafone tariff is ahead.

Details:

  • 36 GB data volume (50 Mbit/s) in the 1&1 network
  • Costs: 14.99 euros per month (instead of the previous 23.99 euros per month)
  • Connection price: 0 euros with a contract term of 24 months, 29.99 euros with the “cancellable monthly” option
