35 injured during the release of bulls of San Fermin

Six people were injured on Friday during the last San Fermin bull run in Pamplona, ​​northern Spain. This brings to 35 the total number of injured for the 2023 edition of this festival attracting tourists from all over the world. The final run, which lasted just over two minutes, resulted in ‘five transfers’ to the hospital, but none were due to goring, a hospital spokeswoman said University of Navarre.

Among the injured taken to hospital, two have a “restricted prognosis”, she added, one “with a chest contusion” and the other with a “head trauma”, said Marta Martín. According to the Red Cross, a sixth runner was treated at the Pamplona bullring infirmary. A total of 35 people have been injured this year, but none of them are in serious condition. The most spectacular injury is that of a 58-year-old Dutchman, victim of a slight gash due to a horn blow in the scrotum.

Approach six bulls

During the San Fermin festivities, which take place every year from July 6 to 15, hundreds of reckless runners, wearing a white shirt or t-shirt and a red scarf, attempt each morning at 8 a.m. for eight days, to get as close as possible to six fighting bulls during an 850-meter race through the narrow cobbled streets of the city to the bullring.
